Composer Ennio Morricone will conduct an International Workshop for Film Music in July 2012

BY AUSTIN BURBRIDGE. LOS ANGELES (CINEMA MINIMA) — 2012 June 15 is the deadline to apply to attend Ennio Morricone’s workshop for film composers. The International Workshop for Film Music will start July 3 and will last for three weeks. It will be held in Rome, at Italy’s National Cinema School CSC Lab. Tuition €2,500. A working knowledge of Italian is required.

Ennio Morricone has created the music for 500 features. He composed and conducted scores for Sergio Leone’s films, including PER UN PUGNO DI DOLLARI|FOR A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS; PER QUALCHE DOLLARO IN PIÙ|FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE; IL BUONO, IL BRUTTO, IL CATTIVO|THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY. He was nominated for Academy Awards for his score for Terrence Malick’s DAYS OF HEAVEN; Roland Joffé’s THE MISSION; Brian DiPalma’s THE UNTOUCHABLES; Barry Levinson’s BUGSY; and Giuseppe Tornatore’s MALÉNA. He received an Oscar in 2007 for “his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music.”
